Yes. The employer must provide suitable workwear and ensure it is clean and in sound condition. In healthcare settings this is also part of infection control, so garment care cannot be left to the employee’s discretion.
There is no formal prohibition, but it is regarded as a weak point: neither a consistent process nor evidence of it can be assured. In addition, garments travel from the institution into the employee’s home. Institutions that take infection control seriously organise laundering centrally.
Requirements depend on the type of premises and procedures. The general principle is that garments must be clean, changed often enough and processed through a controlled procedure. The specific requirements are set by the institution’s infection control procedures; we will help you choose accordingly.
In procedure rooms and the highest-risk areas the requirements are strictest – more frequent changes and more rigorous processing. In nursing wards, administration or reception they are lighter. It is worth using different colours or markings for different areas.
We organise laundering according to EN 14065 (RABC) principles and every cycle is recorded. During an inspection you can produce a document rather than a promise.
It depends on intensity and area. What matters more is that someone monitors wear – with rental we take on that task and replace worn garments without a separate order.
Usually a few days – we hold stock reserved for your institution. For non-standard sizes the timing is agreed separately.
