Our products
We select protective clothing from your risk assessment, not from a catalogue. Some of it protects the worker; ESD garments do the opposite – they protect the product from the static charge the worker builds up. Below are the four main areas we work with every day.
ESD garments for electronics manufacturing
The only garments whose main job is to protect the product rather than the person. As people move they build up a static charge, and a discharge through an unprotected garment damages sensitive components during assembly.
- ✓Protects the product, not the worker – unlike other PPE
- ✓Carbon fibre woven into the fabric conducts the charge away
- ✓Suitable for EPA zones under EN 61340-5-1; garments tested to IEC 61340-4-9
- ✓EN 1149-5 – electrostatic properties
- ✓Marked with the ESD symbol; coats, tunics and trousers
Multirisk garments for energy and oil industries
One garment covering several risks at once – where a single shift brings more than one hazard.
- ✓EN ISO 11612 – heat and flame
- ✓IEC 61482-2 – electric arc
- ✓EN 1149-5 – electrostatic properties
- ✓EN ISO 20471 – visibility
High-visibility garments
High-visibility clothing for roadworks, logistics, warehousing and work near moving machinery.
- ✓Fluorescent fabric and reflective tape
- ✓EN ISO 20471 – class 1, 2 or 3
- ✓The class depends on the area of fluorescent fabric and reflective tape
- ✓We track wash cycles – reflectivity fades
Welding garments
Garments for welding and metalworking – against molten metal spatter, sparks and radiant heat.
- ✓EN ISO 11611 (class 2) – welding work
- ✓EN ISO 11612 – heat and flame
- ✓The flame-retardant finish does not wash out
- ✓Jacket, bib and brace, trousers
Working in metalworking, welding or energy?
In these sectors garments are Category III protective equipment, and their properties fade with wear and laundering. How we select the standards, launder to the manufacturer’s programme and track the cycles – on the metal, welding and energy page ›
Our PPE service
The PPE Regulation – the main European requirements
The employer must ensure protective clothing is in sound condition and matches the risks of the workplace. A manufacturer’s EU type-examination certificate is valid for no more than five years – we keep track of whether the garments in use are still certified.
North Wave clients do not have to worry about that: as the service provider we keep protective clothing continuously up to date – laundering, repairing and replacing it in line with the applicable safety standards.
